Entrepreneur and Mentor
Ken’s early career was spent in commercial banking with HSBC where he championed customer service and helped change the attitude of the retail bank. Subsequent roles were as Chief Executive of Hamptons International, Senior Vice President at Citi-Financial and Managing Director of MG Capital which he floated on the AIM market.
In 2002, Ken joined ILX Group as CEO and walked into a business that was just weeks away from receivership. He immediately began restructuring for profit and within a short time, transformed this ailing AIM listed business into a successful global market leader. In 2009, he was recognised for his work with ILX Group at the Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Awards where he was a regional winner.
In 2012 he was appointed Non Executive Chairman of Westway Trust, a prominent Notting Hill social enterprise. Over the next three years of his tenure, he brought in new leadership and addressed the prevailing and deep-seated governance issues to create a highly effective and board-led organisation.
Ken is active in the startup space, where he co-founded Moncrief London, a luxury fashion brand. Aside from his business mentoring activities, he chairs JL Corporate, a fast growing online retailer specialising in mobile accessories and cases. He describes himself as “A commercial banker by profession; an entrepreneur by choice”
Ken is married and has three children. In his spare time, he gigs for fun and also teaches kids to play guitar.
