Chair Kier Group plc and NED at ICG Group plc (Chair of Audit Committee)
Matthew has a portfolio of roles as a NED on PLC boards and not for profit organisations, in addition to mentoring a range of senior executives. In addition to his current roles, he was NED at Barclays plc ,Man Group plc and Capita plc.
Matthew’s executive career culminated as CFO for Royal Mail Group during its preparation for and through its privatisation via IPO. He has extensive experience in transforming and reorienting businesses from this and his time as CFO for FTSE 100 Financial Services group, ICAP. As part of these roles he became known for developing and championing inclusion and diversity cultures. Prior to that he spent 10 years at Diageo in a range of senior finance roles including Group Controller and Treasurer.
He was Chair of the FTSE 100 Group of CFO’s Investors and Markets Committee and remains active in helping institutional investors and companies engage more effectively, as a Senior Adviser to Federated Hermes.
Matthew is using his part time status to fulfil travel ambitions and indulge his love of theatre and sports.
